An Ahmedabad-based software company, Openxcell Technolabs Pvt Ltd, has developed an application for smartphones that gives users access to important information about Vibrant Gujarat-2011.
It runs on any mobile phone that has the Android operating system installed, and is completely free. And, according to its developers, the application will keep users updated once the business summit begins on January 12.
Director of Openxcell, Jayneel Patel, said the idea behind the application is to use it to popularise the business summit. “Information about Vibrant Gujarat can be accessed by every smartphone or mobile device using the Android operating system,” he said. “We want every smartphone user across the globe to take a tour of the state’s most prestigious business summit.”
He further said that the application was developed neither for profit nor for commercial gains, but only to enhance Gujarat’s fame. “After all, we were born and bought up in Gujarat,” he said. “It is a land of opportunities and that is the message we want to spread through the application.”
As mentioned, any mobile device that has the Android operating system installed can access information on or about Vibrant Gujarat using the application.
Thaker said nearly 95% of all visitors, foreign and national delegates, and participants at Vibrant Gujarat-2011 are likely to have smartphones with 3G services enabled. “Since information on Vibrant Gujarat will be available on their mobile phones through this application, they would not have to use laptop or palmtops,” he said.
