Your Guide to eRetail

Digital technology continues to change the world in which we live. The ongoing evolution of technology and how we interact with it has given rise to a wide range of new terms. While descriptive and apt, those terms can be confusing. Take e-retail or e-tailing for example. What do those even mean? Actually, if you’re considering selling products via the Internet or through a mobile app, it’s time to get familiar with those words and the many other concepts out there.

E-tailing, or e-retail, is nothing more than online commerce. Back in the 1990s, you would have been a DotCom. Today, you’re an e-tailer or an e-retail company. It really boils down to the same thing, and it’s applicable to both B2B and B2C companies. Whether you sell industrial welding supplies or gift baskets, if you do it via digital technology, you’re an e-tailer.

Of course, digital technology is far from stagnant. Just as the DotComs were replaced (by .coms ironically), there has been a significant amount of evolution in the e-retail space. You have things like e-commerce (or eCommerce if you prefer), m-commerce (mCommerce is also used), multichannel retailing, omnichannel retailing and many others. What do these mean and what implication do they have for your business?

If you’re struggling to come to grips with the modern e-retail world, this book was created just for you.
